How to See What Font is on a Character Map
Character Map is a utility that comes with Windows and allows you to view all of the characters available in a font. It can be used to insert special characters into documents or to copy characters to the clipboard. It can also be used to determine what font is being used for a particular character.
Advanced View
To see what font is on a Character Map, click the Advanced View checkbox at the bottom of the Character Map window. This will open up additional options for viewing the characters.
Character Set
Select the Character set “Unicode”. This will show all of the characters available in the font.
Group By
Next, select Group by “All” to see everything in the font, or Group by “Unicode subrange” then select “Private Use” from the pop-up box to see just the special characters.
Identifying the Font
Once you have selected the character set and group by options, you can view the characters in the font and identify the font being used.
